Losing Weight

Published by J Scott under my health

Since I have been working I know I lost some weight because my pants are fitting looser and my muscles feel a lot tighter in my legs. A lot of it is because I lift up big things and carry them around and another thing is pulling pallets with the pallet jack. The other day I pulled one that weighed over 1,000 pounds. It was heavy as a bitch.

Another thing I am doing is eating less because I work several hours day so I am not spending a lot of time eating snacks and other foods. Sometimes I go out to eat but most of the time I bring a peanut butter sandwich and just buy one soda. I am hoping to lose more as time goes by. Every once and awhile I will have to change something up and make my metabolism increase.

Have a nice day.

Heel Pain

Published by J Scott under my health

For the last 2 weeks, my heels are sore as hell. I don’t notice it until I go on lunch and rest for awhile when I go to stand up my heels ache so much, I actually limp. Then the pain subsides after working some more but as soon as I get in the car and drive home I have hard time walking.

I thought it was my shoes since I had them for over a year and they are cheap, so I bought another pair of sneakers and wore them for one 8 hour shift and my feet weren’t any better. I did look up on the internet about heel pain and there is a possibility of having the condition of heel spurs. It is not like I am not prone to them because I have high arches and overweight and I stand on my feet 7 hours or more a day.

Before getting all bent out of shape over something like that I will invest in pair of Nikes and see if that helps. I don’t normally like spending a lot of money on sneakers but up at Gaberiel Brothers I can get a pair for $25-30. It may be worth it because even if I bought a new pair of shoes at Wal-Mart for $15 minus my discount, I may have to buy another pair in a couple of months where as the Nikes will last longer.

Have a nice day

Exercising with Baby

Published by J Scott under my health

Whoever created strollers was an absolute genius. After I had Sunshine, our mail was not delivered to the house instead to the post office. The post office was across the street. To get us both out of the house for some fresh air and for me to get a little exercise, I would strap Sunshine in the stroller and we would take a walk. She enjoyed it as well.

When her dad would be off of work, we would take her on walks through the state parks with the stroller. Having one these makes exercising a little more fun!

My Mistake

Published by J Scott under my health

When I was about 15 or 16 I tried diet pills. I always struggled with my weight and I thought using these pills would help me lose a lot real quick just like the package said. I used them for one day and that was a horrible day. First my heart raced all day, I was sweaty and hungrier than normal. I don’t even think I made it for a whole day. When I got home I totally hogged out. I never did those again they were horrible but I did learn something- there is only one way to lose weight (other than surgery) and that is diet and excercise.

Sorry if I Sound Loopy

Published by J Scott under my health

Well Sunshine gave me a cold, I woke up this morning only to go back asleep. Even now I feel a little tired and I could use a nap. Now that I have a child, I can’t just nap the day away like I used to but I figured out some ways to help me get better even if I might take me a couple of extra days.

  • Move in the granny speed. If I have to make something to eat it probably will take me forever. There is no reason why I should be moving quick. Moving slower and taking my time is restful
  • Nap as much as possible. Sometimes a little one hour nap can be beneficial.  Any rest is better than no rest at all.
  • Drink a lot of fluids and cut back on foods that take a lot longer to digest such as meat products. Again back to the energy thing, it takes more energy to digest protein while fluids and carbohydrates are digested quickly thus you are saving energy for the white blood cells to do their thing.
  • use medicine only when absolutely neccessary. If you are feeling really bad and your nose won’t stop running or you cough all the time, you might want to take some cold medicine. I only use this when I really need to but for a normal cold the other suggestions will help.

With  cold season coming upon us, I hope these little tips help out some.

Take Care

Its That Time of Year Again

Published by J Scott under my health

What is it about the change of the seasons that make people sick?  Sunshine doesn’t even go to school yet or hang around other kids but now she has the sniffles.  She is going through tissues like crazy. Lucky for her, I made a pancake breakfast may not be chicken soup but at least she is eating something and she gets to watch cartoons all day.  Yeah, I liked sick days too. When I was sick and wasn’t sleeping, I would watch Little House on the Prarie.

I just don’t know why people get sick. I know there are supposed to be germs already on the person that make them sick but it just seems right at the beginning of a new season,  everyone and their sister comes down with something.

Have a healthy day!

Squeezing Headache

Published by J Scott under my health

I don’t know if I am getting  sick but yesterday I had one of those pressure headaches. It felt like some gigantic hand grabbed a hold of my brain and squeezed it like sponge. I tried everything to get rid  of it. A nap, tylenol, voffee, carbs, a balanced meal even loads of water. I read some where that you could be dehydrated and that is why you might have a headache. And even ice cream. Of course this headache could be caused by stress  as well.  I wish  I had a drain tube  and then I could relieve the pressure.

I did wake up with out a head ache this morning but I feel drained as hell.  Maybe I a getting sick it is that time of year for me to get sick. Oh well what are you going to do?

Have a wonderful happy day today.

Charley Horses

Published by J Scott under my health

The other night I woke from a dead sleep to a hellacious leg cramp. My calf tightened up and even stretching the muscle didn’t help, until the actual contraction ended then I could get up and stretch it out.  That maybe one of the only things that can pull from sleep other than Sunshine crying or something similar.  I went back to sleep but the muscle was still tender throughout the day.

I don’t get them all the time, I always thought getting a leg cramp was because of lack of calcium or milk. That night I knew it couldn’t be true because I had cereal earlier that day. Did you know that leg cramps can be caused by not drinking enough water? I think this could be the culprit because I get tired of water even if I add a lot of ice and drink it, I get sick of it. My main fluid is coffee and that might be good for the brain but not anything else.  Some other causes of leg cramps could be electrolyte imbalance, excess weight and new exercise, alcohol use, pregnancy and even prolonged sitting.

For me when a charley horse hits, when I can stand on it, I stretch it until the pain subsides. Just another nuisance.

Living to 100

Published by J Scott under my health

I read online today that the oldest blogger died. She was 108 woman from Australia and a dedicated blogger. Amazing, she was born in 1899.

In way I would like to live to 100 to see how the world would change and what the future would hold. If I lived to be 100 that woud occur in 2080. Now that is a huge number 2080. There are sorts of tips on how you might increase your chances of living to close to 100 or older.

Maybe having a healthy lifestlye and all might help and maybe genetics play a part but maybe you are the unlucky/ lucky one to live 100. Didn’t George Burns live to a 100 or pretty close even though he smoked stogies and there are people who die at 60 and were the healthiest people. I think it is when your time it is your time.

I would like to die on July 15, 2080 exactly 100 years old, after the huge birthday party of course.

Flaring Hands

Published by J Scott under my health

Hey there. Well I am not going to spend too much time writing on the computer because I am going to be writing on paper. I got these free samples in the mail and I can not wait until I try them, and the only way to have my arthritis in my hands flare up is I write. The good thing is that there will be more poems and stories for you to enjoy.

Well I really don’t know if you enjoy or not but in my mind I think you do. in fact the reason why some don’t comment is because I am totally awesome that there are no words to say. I understand completely and I will take it in stride. Haha. Anyway I am going to try some new form poems and I am going to write that murder mystery as well. I going to be busy.

Have a nice day!
